Billy Whizz's Wonderboys boss Billy Whizz says he was happy with his team's overall performance over the last week; with their previous 3 league games giving them a win, a draw and a defeat.
The Whizzers started with an away game to Eastrea Eagles, but ran out 1-0 losers, with a lack of cutting edge up front meaning that an early Eagles goal gave the hosts the points.
This meant that the Wonderboys were 6 points clear of Real Telford, who sat in the final relegation place, but this was to be extended after a comfortable 2-0 win over Soccor of Napoli at Shitters Palace. Phin scored two early goals in the first half, and a good midfield display enabled the Whizzers to kill the game in the second period, and could have added a third deep into stoppage time, Enver 'The Rock' Mandirah missing a header from close range.
A key game was to follow, as Real Telford visited the Palace on Sunday night, 9 points behind the home side. Again, Phin struck early, and it looked as though the Wonderboys would again claim 3 points, but Telford struck at the death, a 94th minute goal from a corner denying the Whizzers.
Overall however, Whizz says his team are in a good position, heading into the final stretch of the season:
"We're 9 points clear with 7 games to go - we'd have settled for that at the beginning of the season, and the only reason we're feeling a little sour is because of the late goal on Sunday."
Whizz's team have no time to look back though, tonight they face Lime United in Cutler's Friendly League, and play Man Utd SER on Wednesday:
"To put this week in context - this time in 7 days we could be clear of relegation, and celebrating another season in Division 5, or down in the mire, panicking about our loss of form, and reaching for the calculators. That's why it's important that we look at the positives, and make sure its' the former situation that we're talking about"
