'Bin Whizzer' brings defensive stability

Matthews sale funds Malaysian star

Billy Whizz's Wonderboys new signing 'Bin Whizzer' was presented to the media for the first time today, after joining the Whizzers over the weekend.

Following the sale of Robert Matthews on Friday night, the Wonderboys moved swiftly to bring in a replacement, and bin Whizzer was brought in for 40m. The 34 year old made his debut on Sunday night, in the 1-1 draw against funnytown fc.

"I'm delighted to come to England, and play for a respected club such as the Wonderboys" said bin Whizzer. "This is clearly a great place to play football, and I am hoping we can make a challenge for promotion this year - the club have invested in some good signings, and confidence seems high"

Billy Whizz identified the defence as his team's weakest area at the end of last season, so focussed on strengthening that part of the team for this season. Goalkeeper Jack Leese, DML Peter O'Reilly, and now bin Whizzer have been added to the squad, while Shehata and Matthews have left the club, meaning that 3 of the back 4 against funnytown fc were new signings.

"I think it shows our ambitions for this season" said Whizz. "We could have brought a 21 year old for the same money, who has potential, but we're wanting to have a go at promotion this season, and spending 40m on a 34 year old shows how much we are going for it. This is likely to signal the end of our spending this season, and we are confident with the team we have got"
