Whizz pleased with youngsters progress

Wonderboys manager impressed by 'responsibility' of young stars

Billy Whizz today claimed that his team are finally starting to grow of age, despite the fact that they have yet to pick up a point this season.

The Whizzer's boss, who has been in charge for 19 months, was enthusiastic about his side's performance in their 3-4 defeat on Sunday, where midfield ace Ul-Sagbor scored a hattrick.

"We really started to take responsibility of ourselves, and worked very hard to take something out the game. At the start of the season, there was very little pressure on the team, and I think they took that as an excuse to play at 60%, and accept games were lost even before the ball was kicked."

"Now, they realise that they are playing Division 4 football, and the fans have a right to see them give their all and get a result out of every game. We've seen a general improvement over the last week or two in particular, and it would be nice for us to end the season on a bit of a high"

"Al-Suggbor in particular is an outstanding player, possibly the best we've had at this club ever, and he is in fine form at the minute - it's a shame he'll miss the next game [through suspension]. He is working very hard in training, and is taking all the advice he can from our coaching staff. He is one of the very few players who want to improve every part of his game, and so thats a real credit to himself"

It is known that the Wonderboys have sounded out Saudi Arabian clubs about a possible transfer back to his homeland at the end of the season, but nothing solid has yet materialised. The Whizzers paid 140m to secure his services back at the beginning of the season, the largest transfer fee they have paid in their history.
