Whizzers snatch point

Billy Whizz's Wonderboys secured a draw away to Skills City last night, despite trailing twice.

Hurst opened the scoring for Skills in the 3rd minute, and the hosts continued to dominate the opening period, with Leese called into action to stop efforts form Wilson and Russell, while Smith, Hurst and Britain all missed the target when in good positions.

On 32 minutes, Robertson fired a shot from 20 yards after a nice chip from Groves, but Skills goalkeeper Pardew was able to save.

In the second half, Skills again started brightly, with Russell and Hurst missing when in space, and Hurst again should have scored on 59 minutes, but Whizz dived sharply to his left to push the ball away.

Silky were left to regret not taking their chances however, as in a rare Wonderboys attack, Konz beat his man on the left, and a Morten Fribo header found the back of the net, with 65 minutes on the clock. A minute later, 94m signing Kohklov forced a smart save out of Pardew, with his volley looking goalbound, after smart build up play by Groves.

The Whizzers were soon hanging on though, and had Leese to thank after dangerman Hurst jumped higher than Liddell, and then Beckwith was through one on one, but could only fire into Leese's legs.

It was no surpise therefore when Skills took the lead again on 81 minutes, not least with the goalscorer. Hurst again had time in the box, and this time his header was accurate, and Silky looked on course to record a comfortable win.

It wasn't to be, however, as Robertson picked the ball up after a neat pass by Liddell, and blasted home from close range to level the scores once more.

"It wasn't really a point we deserved" said Billy Whizz after the game, "We were second best all match, so while getting a draw is a positive, there's many things we need to work on performance wise"

"It's a strange atmosphere in the dressing room at the minute, the boys know they didn't perform anywhere near the levels they should have, but they've got out of jail with the late equaliser. Hopefully, we can use this as a learning curve, and come back strong on Friday night against Brindle"
