Wonderboys in relegation zone after disappointing defeat

Billy Whizz's Wonderboys will have been ruing their lack of creativity against an Earby side unable to name their first choice keeper.

With Sloane out injured, it was left to the inexperienced Vujadinović to fill in between the sticks, but the Wonderboys could only muster 2 shots on target in the entire game.

The winning goal came after 15 minutes, when Seymour was left unmarked at the back post to head home past the diving Leese, in one of the games few chances.

Neither side could settle into any pattern of note, with a near constant stream of set pieces and bookings. Captain Morten Fribo particularly disappointed for the Wonderboys, missing several opportunities, and failing to make the most of a string of first half corners - none of them found a Whizzers player.

Billy Whizz admitted his frustrations after the game, and urged his side to re-find their early season sharpness:

"It's very frustrating, because we had a great chance to get something here today. Normally, you would expect an easy Earby win here, but with them having their keeper out, there was a hope we could get a couple of goals. In the end we didn't attack anywhere near as often as we should have, and it seemed a really easy win for them, even though they didn't play particularly well"

"We've hit the wall, and while we perhaps shouldn't be too suprised at our league position, given our great start, it's really disappointing the way we've fallen away. I'm at a loss to explain it to be honest, and I think the players have got to pick themselves up."

"It's a bad way to end the week, and it'll be a long couple of days until Wednesday. It also adds more pressure onto the boys to get a good result against Romans at home on Wednesday - they want to get out the relegation zone, and they will have had 3 days to think about the fact that we're in the bottom six. We're all feeling a little down at the minute, but the players just didn't show anywhere near enough quality, and thats the real shame"
