Boardroom turmoil overshadowed by pitch success

Board members 'singing off different hymn sheets' as Wonderboys crush Arsene-all

In one of the most chaotic weeks in Billy Whizz's Wonderboys history, a run of 3 wins in 3 means that the Whizzers are now just 2 points from the 2nd promotion place in 5.10

Rumours of disatisfaction first spread a week ago, when we revealed that young striker Thomas Avery had been placed on the open transfer list, following a request from manager Billy Whizz. Unsubstantiated claims that Whizz had compared the club's strategy to the speed of a caravan then muddied the waters, and now further complications have been added, as the club announce they have rejected a 15m bid for Avery.

A senior source told us today that there is still 'mass confusion' in the board room, with everyone 'singing of different hymnsheets'. The source added that Whizz had 'done almost a complete U-turn....but doubts remain'

All this comes as a great surpise, as the Wonderboys have a good reputation off the pitch for sticking to a clear strategy, and was successful in winning the Team of the Season vote. However, emergency talks between Whizz and Richardson became something of a daily occurence, and it is still unclear how the club plans to go forward, and if any other players will be added to the transfer list. The club's silence on the matter is almost deafening.

On the pitch, the team have flourished. A 4-2 win away against Arsene-all means that the gap is now just 2 points between the Whizzers and 2nd. Confidence amongst the players seems to be high, and there seems once more to be a belief that promotion to Division 4 is a genuine possibility.

The Wonderboys face Bohos B tonight in a rematch of the opening game of the season, which ended in a 1-0 defeat. Leese, Inchingolo, Jones and Rooney are all out, but Lewis Moody will deputise at right back, and Thorpe will continue in defensive midfield.
