Whizz wanting team to extend unbeaten run
Billy Whizz's Wonderboys will play esaf at Shitters Palace tonight, hoping for a similar scoreline to the last time the sides met - when the Whizzers came away 4-0 winners. While such a win will be welcome, most Wonderboys fans would settle for even the narrowest of 1-0 wins.
"It's getting to the stage in the season where points are more important than performances" said manager Billy Whizz. "Early on in the season, you want to play well, because it can set a tone of whats to follow, but now its about getting as many positive results as you can"
Points is certainly something the Whizzers have collected in abundance in recent weeks, with 22 points gained out of a possible 24 in the last 8 games.
"We're on a bit of a roll at the minute, but its crucial the players keep their feet on the ground. The moment we turn up expecting a win, or thinking promotion is in the bag, is the moment it all starts to go wrong. The coaching staff and myself have continued to work the players hard; they must thrive under the pressure, yet enjoy themselves, and bring back the result required"
Goalkeeper Leese will return for the Wonderboys tonight, and Whizz believes the confidence around the camp is growing with each injured player coming back into the first team surroundings:
"It helps for sure. While Preda has improved a lot over the last couple of weeks, Leese is our first choice goalie, and it should help the defence as a whole. Bin Whizzer should return on Friday, which is another plus, with no injuries or bans tonight we should be able to name our strongest team for the first time in a long long time"
Indeed, should the Wonderboys get through tonight's game unscathed, and bin Whizzer starts on Friday, it will be the first time since the 4th game of the season, the 0-0 draw against Arsene-all way back on the 4th May that Whizz will have a fully fit squad at his disposal, something which further shows the hard work put in by Whizz and his staff.
