Thr-easy does it for Whizzers

Convincing 3-0 win keeps Wonderboys in pole position

Billy Whizz's Wonderboys eased to a 3-0 win over esaf on Wednesday night, taking advantage of favourable results elsewhere.

Goals from O'Reilly, Richards and Groves set up the victory, although a Man of the Match performance from Leese ensured a comfortable evening for the hosts, meaning 25 points out of a possible 27 have been amassed from the last 9 league games.

"It was a solid performance" said manager Billy Whizz. "With players returning from injury, confidence is high, and every win is crucial now. It's important that we continue this streak as long as we can, because as we see so often in football, teams can crumble in the final stages"

One sour note for the Wonderboys was the injury to O'Reilly, and Whizz confirmed it could rule the Irish defender out for the remainder of the season:

"It's a pretty bad one, and he'll be lucky to play again this season. It's difficult to say currently, but it's a real shame, as he was playing some good football, and contributing to a good team run."

The promotion charge continues tonight against Boca Juniors. David Thorpe is likely to deputise for O'Reilly, with Hawthorn likely to be pushed up to DML.
