Complacency no issue says Whizz

Whizzers remain top despite lacklustre performance

Billy Whizz defended his side last night, after a disappointing 1-1 draw against bottom of the table Baldies.

The Wonderboys took an early lead through captain Morten Fribo, but a 94th minute equaliser was the least the hosts deserved, after Luke Groves conceded a penalty for a foul on Lofthouse. The point keeps the Whizzer's top of the league, as the chasing pack all drew also, and manager Billy Whizz decided to point out the positives rather than focus specifically on the match itself:

"We didn't play as well as we would have liked to no, but we've played some excellent football over the last couple of weeks - six consecutive wins before tonight shows the effort the players have been putting in. Tonight we looked a little tired, and we sat back after our goal, rather than really keeping the pressure up and killing the game. We were too content with the 1-0 scoreline, when we should have gone for more."

"I'm not knocking anyone tonight though, we're still top of the league, and its another game gone. We'll look to bounce back with a win Sunday, and keep confidence high, because obviously, we want to stay in 1st place"

With 11 games to play, the Whizzers have 44 points, 2 ahead of 3rd placed Skills City, who have 42 points. The Wonderboys face Cornfield Rovers away on Sunday night, with a chance to extend their lead, as Skills play 2nd placed Arsene-all.
