Robertson double boosts Whizzers

Billy Whizz's Wonderboys 3-0 All Red Shot Town

Billy Whizz's Wonderboys eased their relegation fears with this commanding victory over Red Shot, claiming a thoroughly deserved three points at Shitters Palace.

A brace from midfielder Chris Robertson put the Wonderboys on their way, before a Luke Groves goal added gloss to the scoreline in the second half.

The start was eventful, not least for Robertson, who was booked in just the 2nd minute, for a clumsy foul on Stacy. After just 6 minutes, Luke Groves made a precise through ball to Robertson, who fired past Red Shots keeper Baselga.

Then, on 12 minutes, defender Florent Tessadri was shown a straight red card, as he brought down Stacy as last man. Liddell was replaced by youngster Lewis Moody, and it looked as though a long and nervy evening was in store for the Whizzers. In truth, it couldn't have been any easier.

On the half hour mark, Robertson scored his 3rd league goal of the season, with a superb diving header, following a hopeful cross from Mollet.

The Whizzers then sat back, and came under a bit of pressure, in what turned out to be the visitors best period of the game. Pitman and Stacy came the closest, in what was a stern examination of the Whizzers backline.

At half time, the score was justified, but that a goal from Red Shots could quickly change the dynamic of the game. Red Shots, however, did nothing of the sort, and managed just one more shot on target during the entire second 45 minutes, and even that was in the 90th minute, when the result was totally without doubt.

That was because Luke Groves finished from close range, after some skillful play by Morten Fribo, who was playing out on the left in the absence of Konz. The only disappointment for the Wonderboys (along with the red card of Tessadri) would be the crowd, with many staying away because of nigh on torrential rain!
