Win increases survival hopes

Billy Whizz's Wonderboys took a big step towards avoiding relegation in their first season in Division 4, as they swept aside Bristol South End

Manager Billy Whizz named the same side that narrowly lost to Hetton Milan Juniors, and the Wonderboys were under pressure early on, with Bristol dominating possession in the opening stages.

Leese was forced into an 11th minute save, after Aldair bamboozled Matt Hawthorn and shot from 18 yards, and Tessadri was booked for a crunching tackle on Hill on the quarter hour mark.

The hosts continued to push forward, with the Whizzers struggling to have any foothold in the game. Rose leapt above Tessadri, but headed straight at Leese, before Aldair again wasted a good opportunity, as he outmuscled the troubled Tessadri, only to fire into the body of the seemingly inpregnable Jack Leese. Despite speculation about his future at the end of the season, the veteran goalkeeper has maintained his good form in recent games.

On the 25th minute, the Whizzers eventually formed an attack of their own, as Robertson picked out Liddell, who ran through and finished expertly, to give the Wonderboys a totally undeserved lead. That didn't stop the visiting supporters expressing their glee, however, as Liddell raced over to the Albion.

After the goal, Bristol continued to dominate, but failed to test Leese, while GYAN and Fribo hit wide from long range opportuinities.

After half time, the Whizzers seemed to be a little more composed on the ball, with well worked chances resulting in Mollet and Wielgas missing the target. The Wonderboys were starting to impose themselves, and a Tessadri through ball sent through GYAN, who forced a good save from the visitors 'keeper Smith.

The Wonderboys doubled their lead, after determined work from Mollet, who despite losing the initial ball forward, tackled Bristol defender Tyler, and crossed for Fribo to head home from close range. Although there was some element of fortune in the goal, there was no real surpise in the fact the visitors had scored again as the Wonderboys captain scored his 8th of the campaign.

Leese expertly saved another shot from Aldair, before Russian striker Mikhail Kohklov completely made the game secure for the Wonderboys, as he shot home from 25 yards, after nice work from Morten Fribo. Smith stood no chance, and the visitors secured a vital victory, despite being second-best possession wise for most of the evening.
