Frantic planning as season begins

Flurry of bids placed on Wonderboys youngsters

Billy Whizz's Wonderboys are set to receive a major cash boost, as BWW blog can reveal that over 25m has been bid on young central defender Dwight Connolly.

The amount is roughly double what the Whizzers management were expecting, and means manager Billy Whizz will have a greater amount of money to spend on recruitment.

Thomas Avery also has a bid placed on him - the exact figure is unknown, but is thought to be around the 8.5m region. Sources at the club say that they expect the striker to sell for at least 20m.

This means that the gamble that Whizz and his staff took to sell the duo earlier than previously desired has spectacularly paid off, and there is time yet for the final amount to increase. Top of Whizz's wish list are a striker and a right midfielder, and one club director said that it was possible that some 'very good business' could be completed by tonight. Peter O'Reilly and Michael Hill are set to sell on Wednesday evening, although no bids have been lodged on the pair yet.
