Survival would be greatest achievement yet claims Whizz

 Season 25

This season is likely to be the toughest we've had for a long time. Following on from last seasons promotion joys will be a difficult task, but we've worked hard to earn our spot in Division 4, so we're going to make the most of it.

Unlike last year, its likely we will lose more games than we win. There will be many days of frustration, and every point will be valuable in our mission to avoid relegation. However, we will still try to play entertaining football, and we have some quality players in our side, which brings me on nicely to Mikhail Kohklov.

Mikhail Kohklov

Mikhail was one of a number of strikers we looked at. We examined hundreds of forwards, of varying quality and prices. We missed on on several by the slenderest of margins, but I feel, after all the work we put in, we can be proud of the player we have brought to the club. Buying someone for 94m represents a huge risk, no matter which way you look at it, but I'm convinced that Kohklov can be a huge player for the club, both now, and in the future.

Club recruitment strategy

As a club, we are actively trying to bring in younger talent. I had the opportunity to sign a 31 year old forward, who would have done wonders this season, but I think its time that the club employed a sensible recruitment strategy, aiming to build for the future, without compromising the quality of the team in the present. I believe if we had carried on buying aging stars, we would have gone bankrupt as a club, and dropped down the leagues like a stone, with very little to play with. As it is, this is not the case with the Kohklov signing, and I'm delighted that he's here. He played very well last night, and will be wanting to hit the back of the net in the near future. I'm pretty certain a partnership of him and Groves up front is not something many central defenders will relish this season.

Further transfer activity

We are looking to strengthen still, but we must be patient - any mistake over the next few days could very easily relegate us. Hopefully, with the funds from O'Reilly selling on Friday night, we can afford to bring in a young, talented right midfielder, and possibly think about improving our depth in one or two areas. Other than O'Reilly, I envisage no other player sales at this point in time.

Here's to a successful season,
